Reading this book 13 years after the third edition I am still struck as I was when I first read it by the sheer erudition of it's authors. The book details almost everything one could possibly want to know about the performance of cardiopulmonary resuscitation. In addition it justifies all its statements with evidence citing 1,000 references. The book is not for the lay reader taking 464 pages to cover the subject, but is intended for the professional who wishes to add understanding to their practice. Other books have come since this one, and may reflect slightly newer learning but this book set and still sets the standard to which they must aspire.

These well known editors have compiled a collection of 21 case studies written by very accomplished statisticians and biostatisticians. It covers many different topics and provides insights and examples to learn from.

It is divided into six topical areas. The first three papers deal with environmental hazards. The next five are characterized as being in forestry, fisheries or genetics. Part three consists of three articles in the category of habitat and animal studies. Part 4 deals with health care and public policy and includes two articles. Part 5 is four articles on clinical trials. Part 6 contains the remaining four articles that deal with epidemiology and toxicology.

Most chapters have multiple authors. There are 53 authors covering the 21 articles. Many well known statisticians are contributors. The book also includes a data disk with examples from the case studies.

Outstanding basic textbook on Admiralty Law. Excellent review of what the law is, as well as a statement of what the trends have been. Materials, including Editor footnotes, also provide interesting background information, which gives a flavor for the law and for the history of shipping. For example, the book discusses the role of the international maritime organizations and the international conventions in the development of the law, as well as how U.S. courts treat these developments. Some of the areas covered are fairly straight forward, others are quite complex and may require careful study to absorb. However, this complexity is a reflection of the subject matter, not the author's ability to cover it. If you are looking for a good basic reference, this is it.

There is not much I can say about this book. The book speaks far better for itself than ever I could hope to. I congratulate the author. I had read lectures on Systems Analysis and Design to Graduate Students (not on informatics)and my reference book was this one. Obviously, authors applied their past experience to present a complex task in a very amenous and readable way. Of course, I will use it again in my next courses. Some years ago, I used several times in my courses, with good results, the book "Systems Analysis and Design. Best Practices" by the same authors.

I've always felt much safer following novelists into non-fiction than say biographers, or historians into the realms of fiction. Griffin, who has written a couple of historical novels, is on familiar, though foreign ground. His fictional stories seem to examine cruelty and hope and his first work of non-fiction is no exception. It's a mixture of many genres, all neatly rolled into a short, decisive book. The Caucasus is one of those places, much like the Balkans, which used to confuse me to the point where I'd rather turn the page. But Griffin keeps everything simple and clear, following myths, history and politics along the lines of an expanding Christian nation (Russia) and a defensive Islamic nation (what came to be called Chechnya, Dagestan and Azerbaijan). This book is obviously more topical than the author thought when starting it four years ago. My only complaint is in the inclusion of the author's own travels. At first, it didn't feel as if they merited belonging, but once you catch the writer's drift, that everything is really very close to how it was two hundred years ago, his aims become more and more apparent. Caucasus is blessedly easy to read, and that's no mean feat.

Whether you are a diehard sports fan or just another Detroit area citizen, you will love this book. I especially enjoyed the coverage of the RedWings and Steve Yzerman, but I also loved going back in time to find out about all the great moments in Detroit sports history.

This is not only a practical tool for the Chechen language but also a fascinating insight into the Chechen people themselves. There's a great easy to use pronunciation system which means you can make yourself understood instantly and a lot of (understandable) stuff on war and reconstruction. There are also background sections dotted about which fill you in on things like transport (not in the best of shape), traditional cuisine and beliefs. I think this deserves five stars not only because it's currently the only book of its kind but also as a great potted introduction to a long-neglected nation. I'd say this was essential reading, particularly at the moment.

A Chorus Line Sheet music is great to have if your like me and love the show, and love to sing. I love all the music in the show and it's fun to sing out of. And if you don't like to sing but like to play an instrument, get this music! You won't be upset you did!

As a child, my mother would read us the Nicholas tales but it was always difficult to make out the words between her laughter. We would giggle and roll around the bed, our stomachs aching. The humour easily managed to cross the age gap and is a clear display of Goscinnys comedy talent. The storys are highly descriptive looks into the minds of kids at a French school (English translation is as funny); narcissistic, self-obsessed, easily engrossed and overflowing with creativity. The adults are odd obstacles. The world the kids find themselves in is also odd. The author manages to capture both the childs' amusement at the strange reality we all find ourselves in and the childs vast lack of concern thereof. Like Adam and Eve, the children are free of guilt. And, like Adam and Eve, they couldn't care less.
